| Title | Duplex Tires |
| Description | A single tire (left) that replaced conventional dual equipment (right), is checked for tread temperature by a Firestone engineer. The tire was developed by the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. It requires considerably less space than duals and features a lower spring rate which results in a softer ride, better load cushioning and reduced truck maintenance. With Duplex tires tractors and trailers can be designed with less space required for wheel and axle assemblies. The wide base tire and wheel is substantially lighter than duals, permitting a lower ready-for-the-road weight. |
