This image is one out of a series of images taken by Willard Penfield Seiberling of outdoor activities near Cedar Lodge, the family's summer home in northern Michigan. The Seiberlings were frequent visitors to the home on Marquette Island, located off the southern shore of the Upper Peninsula on Lake Huron.

About This CollectionWillard Penfield Seiberling (1892-1981), the third child of F.A. and Gertrude, was born in Akron, Ohio in 1892. He became a successful businessman whose lifelong interest and skill in photography produced a visual history of the Seiberling family, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and the world during the early 20th century. Willard's immense body of work is a priceless resource in the restoration and interpretation of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens today. His images are critical to the museum, offering accurate historical records of the Seiberling family, hundreds of well-known guests, interior Manor House and exterior garden design and visual documentation of Akron community and culture.
