| Title | Canals - Locks 13 & 14 |
| Description | Locks 13 and 14 on the Ohio and Erie Canal in Akron, Ohio. The steepest section of the Ohio & Erie Canal was between Akron and the Little Cuyahoga River. In a single mile, 15 locks were needed to help canal boats climb the Continental Divide. Locks 10 through 16 formed the Cascade Locks Area. The small stretch of water between lock 13 and lock 14 was the shortest level of water on the Ohio & Erie Canal. It was located behind the Old Cascade Mill, North of the B. & O. Railway Bridge, and South of East North Street. |
