Summit Beach - Band
TitleSummit Beach - Band
DescriptionA band performing at the Wisteria dance hall at Summit Beach Amusement Park during a Goodyear Aircraft Company picnic. The dance hall consisted of a 28,000-square-foot oak floor with an orchestra pit suspended over the middle of the floor. Summit Beach Park, also known as Akron's "The Million Dollar Playground" opened in 1917. It was eastern Ohio's most profitable amusement park during the 1920s. On average, the park attracted 25,000 people a day. It featured the country's largest funhouse and the Crystal Pool - the largest mosiac tile pool in the country. The park closed on Labor Day 1958. Today, the site of Summit Beach Park is a government housing project.
