swimming (not too far away) and riding. So you see, were' quite well situated.
All this publicity about hula dancers is mostly just that. Occasionally the floor shows present them but you don't see them anywhere else.
Bananas, pineapple and papayas are yours for the asking. Fresh pineapple is really tops. We've eaten so much that we're tiring of it. Ah yes and steaks. They are flown over from the big island ranches and you never saw anything that cooked or tasted as delicious. I feel almost guilty eating a big juicy steak all myself when the folks on the mainland would give their right arm for a quarter of one.
Do you remember Dr. Max Thomas? He is a captain over here. I also met Henry Jacobs, an orderly in Emergency, now stationed on the island.
There are quite a few people from Ohio here. There was an all-Ohio picnic not long ago but I didn't know anyone there.
The hospital is permanent and of course everything is very similar to a civilian hospital. We live in wooden barracks at present although there is a permanent nurses quarters.
I hope this gives you an idea of the ANC in Hawaii,
