Promotion of W. E. Lyon to the post of director of tire engineering and development of Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. was announced Saturday.
It was one of seven advancements listed by Raymond C. Firestone, vice president in charge of research and development.
J. J. ROBSON, formerly manager of tire engineering, takes on additional duties as manager of tire engineering and development.
M. P. Hershey was named manager of the department in charge
of passenger, airplane, racing and special product tire design.
T. A. Robertson becomes manager of the department in charge of truck, bus, tractor, implement and earthmover tire design.
In the other changes, K. W. Brandau was named manager of the development compounding department; P. D. Bowers, manager of the service compounding department, and G. H. Wallace, manager of the analytical laboratory division.
LYON JOINED Firestone in 1929 after graduating from Cornell University. He became manager of the tire engineering department in 1940 and manager of tire development in 1950.
A graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1932, Robson has been with the company since then, first in the engineering department and then from 1946 to 1949 as manager of the West Coast division of the manufacturers' sales department. Since 1949 he has been manager of tire engineering. |
