TranscriptDear Clarissa, Nathan, Joe, Justin, and Erica, I was very pleased to read in the Beacon Journal about your Memorial to all of the people that lost their lives in the Doodlebug train wreck. It is a wonderful thing that you are doing. I live in Florida now and I read the Beacon online everyday. My father's brother was one of the fatalities. His name was Jacob Henry Peters. He was only 23 years old when he died. I was only two years old at the time, so I do not really remember him. Jacob was born in Ohio on October 26, 1917. His brother (my father) John Jr. was born August 21, 1915. Their father John Sr., was born in Hungary and came to the United States in 1907, when he was 17 years old. Their mother was Maria Eiler and she was born in 1890, in Hungary and came to the United States in 1912, when she was 21 years old. Jacob, my father John and their father John Sr., all worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. My dad was an engineer on the railroad and John Sr. was a crossing guard. In those days the gates at the crossings had to actually be put down by a person, where now days it is all done electronically. I am enclosing a picture of Jacob, along with a donation toward your monument. I am sure my grandparents and my father would be very proud to know that Jacob has been remembered. Thank you for your kindness. Regards, Pat (Peters) Holler
