DescriptionA postcard showing the Buchtel Hotel in downtown Akron, Ohio. The Buchtel Hotel, built by William Buchtel (1822-1914), opened on April 16, 1884 on the southeast corner of Main and Mill Streets. It featured a water-powered elevator and electric lights in every room. It was Akron, Ohio's leading hotel until the completion of the Portage Hotel in 1912.
