TranscriptFront of postcard reads: Quaker Square's ~ Famous Oatmeal Cookie Recipe ~ 3/4 Cup Vegetable Shortening, 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar, 1/4 Cup Water, 3 Cups Oats Uncooked, 1 Teaspoon Salt (Optional), 1 Cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar, 1 Egg, 1 Teaspoon Vanilla, 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour, 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda. Preheat over to 350. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies. Back of postcard reads: Quaker Square, located in the former Quaker Oats plant, is now the home of unique shops, excellent restaurants and a Hilton Hotel. Quaker Square is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
