| Title | Music Hall |
| Date | 15 April 1907 |
| Description | The Music Hall at 44 E. Exchange St. in downtown Akron, Ohio. The Music Hall was dedicated on September 15, 1904 with a concert by the Victor Herbert Orchestra. It was primarily used by the Akron Male Chorus and the Tuesday Musical Club. Paul E. Werner, a German-American multimillionaire, financed the $65,000 building. He intended the hall to serve all German activities and called it "The Deutsch Haus" (The German House). It was more commonly known as the German-American Music Hall until anti-German sentiments arose during WWI, and its name was shortened to the Music Hall. The hall was demolished in 1929 to make room for the new Akron Times-Press building. The Akron Beacon Journal purchased the Akron Times-Press in 1938 and has been located at the site since then. |
