DescriptionThe Simon Perkins Residence also referred to as The Stone House, located at 550 Copley Road, is a Greek Revival home designed and built by Isaac Ladd. Alterations were made in c.1919-20. This stone mansion was built by Colonel Simon Perkins, Jr., the son of Akron's founder, General Simon Perkins. It was occupied by Simon and Grace Perkins and their eleven children, and then by their descendants until 1945 when was sold to the Summit County Historical Society and opened as an historic house museum. It contains some of the original furnishings and items connected with the early history of Summit County. Situated on ten acres, the house overlooks downtown Akron.
