DescriptionPictured above is the Living Room in Selden Anderson House. Located at 2155 Ridgewood Road, it is a Georgian Revival (Colonial) style home designed by Roy G. Firestone. Selden Anderson was born in Salem, Virginia on July 8, 1880. Mr. Anderson came to Akron in 1901 to become the circulation manager of the "Self Culture" magazine by the Werner Co. In 1903 he became the advertising manager of the Akron Beacon Journal. Selden became a traveling salesman for the Saalfield Publishing Co. in 1905. He returned to Akron in 1907 and entered the rubber industry by manufacturing rubber balloons and other rubber novelties. He served as a trustee and later president of the Board of Akron Children's Hospital.
