| Title | St. Bernard's School |
| Description | St. Bernard's Catholic School was established in 1865 in the basement of St. Bernard's Catholic Church on the northeast corner of Broadway and Center Streets. In 1867, a small building was contructed east of the church for $1,400. When student membership swelled, a new building, pictured here, was put up on the southwest corner of Broadway and Center at the cost of $35,000 for the construction and $9,000 for the land. Classes were given in both English and German. (Art Work of Akron, Ohio. pt. 6 pg. 3) |
