| Title | Silver Lake |
| Description | Known for its clear water and good fishing, Silver Lake became a popular summer resort in the 1880s when the C. A. & C. Railroad laid tracks out to the lake. Ralph H. Lodge, the owner of the land, built bath and boat houses, pavillions, and a zoo. People came from over a hundred miles away to visit the lake. Lodge refused to have the park open on Sundays and never allowed alcohol to be sold on the property. This ban provoked officials of the Mountain Line to open a rival destination, Randolph Park, in the summer of 1895. (Art Work of Akron, Ohio. pt. 5 pg. 2) |
