DescriptionThe ultimate winner of the 1927 National Balloon Race out of the Akron-Cleveland Speedway was the Goodyear V piloted by Ward T. Van Orman and his Aide Walter Morton. This photo was taken just before they left the ground at 5:20 PM. Their 718 mile flight to Bar Harbor, Maine took approximately 26 hours.
