DescriptionPostcard of First Baptist Church located at the corner of Sixth Street and Hopocan Avenue in Barberton, Ohio. This building was the former St. Augustine Catholic Church built in 1891and purchased by the Baptist congregation in 1906. The structure originally sat at the corner of Seventh Street and Lake Avenue before being relocated by the Baptist Church. First Baptist was organized in 1904 and met in several locations before purchasing this building. In 1935, the structure was destroyed by fire and a new church was rebuilt several years later in the same location.
