About Us

The Summit Memory project is a county-wide, collaborative effort to make available some of the remarkable local history collections maintained by our partner institutions. Summit Memory is also a partner in Ohio’s Heritage Northeast which brings together, in one searchable database, digital collections from libraries, universities and other historical organizations throughout Northeastern Ohio. If your organization would like to participate in Summit Memory, please contact Judy James at 330.643.9041. You may also download our brochure.

Summit Memory makes available these digital images with the intention that they be used for nonprofit educational, research, or personal use. The images in these collections may be copyrighted, contain trademarks, or be subject to other legal restrictions not controlled by the partner institutions. If you are a rights holder who does not wish an image to be displayed in these collections, please provide a written request to remove the image. You may send the request to: Judy James, Special Collections, Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High Street, Akron, Ohio 44326.

Robert W. Little
This project is funded by a grant from the Robert W. Little Foundation. Mr. Little (1917-2000) served as a librarian at the Akron-Summit County Public Library for nearly 30 years. Before coming to the library, he worked at the B.F. Goodrich Company and attended the University of Akron where he received a degree in history. This World War II veteran enjoyed local history and collected many books, artifacts and documents about Summit County. It is through his generosity that these historic items are so readily available to the public.
