About Us
The Summit Memory project is a county-wide, collaborative effort to make available some of the remarkable local history collections maintained by our partner institutions. While there are many valuable collections not yet online, we are adding more items and collections every day. If there is something you are looking for but cannot find on our site, please contact the Special Collections Division of the Akron-Summit County Public Library at 330.643.9030.
Summit Memory is also a partner in Ohio’s Heritage Northeast which brings together, in one searchable database, digital collections from libraries, universities and other historical organizations throughout Northeastern Ohio.
If your organization would like to participate in Summit Memory, please contact Joanne O’Dell at 330.643.9064. You may also download our brochure.
| This project is funded by a grant from the Robert W. Little Foundation. Mr. Little (1917-2000) served as a librarian at the Akron-Summit County Public Library for nearly 30 years. Before coming to the library, he worked at the B.F. Goodrich Company and attended the University of Akron where he received a degree in history. This World War II veteran enjoyed local history and collected many books, artifacts and documents about Summit County. It is through his generosity that these historic items are so readily available to the public. |
