Spectators watch as an Akron Beacon Journal sponsored Soap Box Derby racer is flagged in by Wilbur Shaw. Wilbur Shaw, winner of three Indianapolis 500 races, suggested that a ring be designed for the All-American Soap Box Derby winner.
