This postcard shows the Summit County Courthouse. The Summit County Courthouse is the seat of the County Government. It is located between High Street and S. Broadway Street in downtown Akron, Ohio. It was completed in 1908 at a cost of $338,000. The Smaller building to the immediate right of the court house is the Summit County Jail. The County Jail was built in 1902. The sandstone structure looked more like a house of the period than a jail and was widely acclaimed. There were living quarters for the sheriff and cells for 100 prisoners. It was razed in 1965 to make way for the City-County Safety Building.
