On May 9, 1985, the Hudson Questers dedicated a plaque to commemorate John Brown in Hudson. The plaque stands on the section of the main Hudson Green between Streetsboro and Ravenna Streets near the site of the Free Congregational Church. The plaque reads: "Hudson, Ohio. Boyhood home of John Brown (1800-1859). Abolitionist John Brown came to Hudson as a boy in 1805 and lived here until 1826. A frequent visitor to Hudson in the ensuing years, Brown attended services at the Free Congregational Church which was a rallying point for the abolitionist cause in Hudson."
