Photograph of Mrs. W.S. Chase holding a photograph of the Mary Day Nursery and Children's Hospital when it was located at 43 Buchtel Street in Akron, Ohio. The building, completed in 1897, was donated by Colonel George Tod Perkins; he also provided the money needed to add a 6-ward hospital, which was completed in December 1911. By 1928, though, a new hospital building was built on West Buchtel and Bowery Streets. Originally founded as a child care provider for working class parents in 1890, the Mary Day Nursery eventually evolved into what is now Akron Children's Medical Center.
